HO CHI MINH CITY, May 5 (Xinhua) — After seven years of discontinuity, Miss Universe Vietnam will be held from June to August in four cities nationwide, its organizers announced here Tuesday.
The preliminary round of Miss Universe Vietnam 2015 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in June, and the semi-final and final rounds in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province from July to August, the beauty contest’s organization board announced at a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City. Contestants in the final round will also partake in relevant activities in Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province.
At the conference, Duong Truong Thien Ly, the 2nd runner-up in Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, one of the 2015 contest’s organizers, said: “We want to create a fair beauty playing field for young unmarried women to develop themselves toward professionalism… We invite auditing firm KPMG Vietnam to participate in supervising judgment processes in the semifinal and final rounds.” Total expenses for the beauty pageant are estimated at around 1.4 million U.S. dollars.
Vietnamese girls in the age bracket of 18-25, with the minimum height of 1.65m will vie for the crown to be handed over by the winner of Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, singer Nguyen Thuy Lam, at Crown Convention Center in Nha Trang in August.
The 7,500-seat Crown Convention Center, complete after 4 months of construction with total investment of 9.8 million U.S. dollars, housed the 57th Miss Universe pageant in 2008. The center is Vietnam’s biggest and most modern indoor stage.
The Vietnamese winner will attend Miss Universe 2015. Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant which attracts contestants from around 100 countries. The first pageant was hold in 1952 in the United States.
