Kinia Blyden, a former
beauty queen has been sentenced to prison for
drug trafficking. Kinia has previously won the title of
St. John Festival Queen and has graduated from Charlotte Amalie High School.
Investigating officers revealed that Kinia was part of a team of female couriers deployed by admitted drug trafficker Nilda Morton.
Kinia was caught when she was seen sitting on a bench outside an airport in Cleveland, Ohio, getting ready to receive a shipment of cocaine. The beauty queen was sentenced by the U.S. District Court. District Court Judge Curtis Gomez sentenced her to more than two years in prison.
Kinia pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. She self surrendred to U.S. Marshals that day and began serving her time in advance of a formal sentencing hearing.
